It took me completely by surprise.
I smelt the perfume first
whilst bent double in the weed bed.
Seemingly overnight,
there it was in full bloom.
I must bring some in tomorrow.
And arrange it like Konstantin Alekseevich Korovin did in 1915
with lemons.
I just noticed, yesterday, that my lilacs were in bloom. Bliss!

It's not just lilacs that creep up on you unawares - my garden has suddenly filled with bluebells and orange poppies - seemingly in the blink of an eye!

The Lilac has "snuck up" this year, hasn't it? I commented only yesterday morning that next doors' lilacs have suddenly sprung into flower....
ReplyDeleteI have a white and a deep pink lilac tree in my garden. Sadly, I can't bring the flowers into the house as I am very allergic to them!
