Wood roses 2

The wood roses have been gathering dust
in a basket.
Like the shells from summer which lost their lustre
and the conkers that dulled and cracked,
these once vital seasonal gleanings needed
a stern reappraisal.

Luckily there are people out there who know how to repurpose,
and so these have been given a new lease of life
thanks to Pebbledash and Silverpebble.

Now they are scented wax pine cone firelighters.
I admit they don't look very different
but that is because I had not a glimmer of daylight
all day.
They will have their moment of glory when the woodstove
is commissioned.

  1. Excellent idea.

I'm an owl, by the way. Too late, though, I realise!

  4. How lovely, a scented fire!
And I think it's about time that my dusty conker collection had a reappraisal, too. Why is it so hard to throw these things away?
