The upside


of one of your little birds


 leaving the nest


 and flying off into the sunrise



is that they might be a homing pigeon at heart



and come back bearing flowers
as a cheerful reminder for you


when they go again.

    Oh thank-you for this hopeful thought. I'm preparing for my first bird to fly away to college and it is hard...nature is nature...he's already promised his little sister to be home for her birthday next October, though.
