Lots to think about here. I now type faster than I write. But the slow death of handwriting came (for me, at any rate) with the arrival of ball point pens. At school, a fountain pen was standard, and our writing was much better than it is today. Although, when I think of it, we all wrote pretty much the same way - I could probably identify my peers from their handwriting!
