Tonight I draw a little grim pleasure
from my darkling poppies.
Close the curtains.
Hear tyres hissing on the road.
Turn in for an early night.
Slugged by the cold.

Does this mean that the wind is blowing the poppies that way? I love poppies, I really do, I have only seen them in England so they are very special to me. I was amazed to see them growing wild and not in someone's garden.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your cool breezes, I wish I had some!
Yes a chilly breeze was blowing. Today is forecast to be muggy and wet at 66 F. Although these are in my garden they are self-sown. I hope you get some cooler temperatures soon.
ReplyDeleteI used to have Poppies of that colour but now I just have some wishy-washy pale purple ones. Other than my big multi-headed, pale pink one that it.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the most miserable 'summers' I have ever experienced, I do wish it would buck its ideas up!
