We've had ten (yes ten!) varieties of sweet peas dessimated by deer......pffffffffft!(They are in slow recovery at the moment, till the next "strike". The sweetpeas, that is!). Beans eaten, raspberry canes shortened, fruit trees "pruned" - all by bambi..... and the SLUGS........... oh, don't get me on the subject of the size of slugs this year. However, I was at work today and in the hall of a small office I thought of you when the sun shone through a mullioned window in a door and onto the wall opposite.... It would have made a really good photo.
Argh, mine have never been worse, since they're about four inches tall so far (the plants, not the flowers. Flowers? What are they?) Maybe they'll struggle into bloom by September?
Oh good, you found your silver lining!
ReplyDeleteDo they still smell as lovely ... or has that all been washed away this year ?
ReplyDeleteThey smell wonderfully sweet.
