Actually the carrots delicious though they were, weren't the carrot,
the Victoria sandwich filled with raspberry and blackcurrant jam
and whipped vanilla cream, was.
Not pictured is the sorted hat and glove drawer
and the alphabetised bookcase.
And if this sounds a bit too much like an Agatha Christie,
that is probably because I have just watched the excellent
Julia Mackenzie as the latest incarnation of Miss Marple in
Murder is Easy.
What is whipped vanilla cream?
ReplyDeleteLove this post! Makes me want to watch a good mystery!!!
I think it is what you would call heavy cream whipped /beaten with a little caster or icing sugar and some Madagascan vanilla essence.
ReplyDeletehmm...sounds wonderful in that sandwich! i may have to give it a try:)
ReplyDeleteI should perhaps explain that in this context a Victoria sandwich is a sponge cake not a bread and butter sandwich, although it would probably be very nice with bread too. When I was little my aunt gave me a slice of home made white bread with blackberry jelly and clotted cream in her thatched cottage garden and I have never forgotten it.
