Green flames

My first bowl of Paperwhites
were up and over in a blink of the eye.
I started again and am willing them to last
until Christmas, but I swear I can hear them
growing.

The heating is restored, and the mild weather
helped to minimise the inconvenience,
but it was a good excuse
to warm up some apple juice with
cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and brown sugar.
It's nice on muesli too.

  4. The seasonal special sounds wonderfully warming. Though maybe I could take mine with just un soupçon of Calvados..?

  5. I love Paperwhites, I've been remiss this year and not done any. Hope they last until Christmas.

I might just splash out and buy a display or some sort.

  6. I like the sound of that hot apple juice - so many Christmas/cold weather drinks aren't suitable for non-drinkers like me. I'll give it a go.

  7. Muesli? Bleugh! I'd agree with J's suggestion. Good news about the heating.

  8. We made some hot apple cider for an event this past weekend. My friend put in cloves, cinnamon sticks, allspice, and orange peel, and everyone who came in the art gallery remarked on the beautiful aroma.
My paperwhites last year overgrew and fell over...I dare not try them again, but I might try a hyacinth in the house.
