The Secret Drawer

My thanks to Cornflower for pointing me in the direction
of this competition.
I'm not a 'comper' but this one caught my imagination.

The green velvet in the main compartment
of Aunty Mary's vanity box
has faded

but the secret drawer, only recently discovered,
has preserved its deep viridian.

This isn't the shade I would choose to have matched
as my bespoke Farrow & Ball paint.

It would have to be this one.

  1. Ooh, no, not green! At least, not for me, I can't stand it unless it is outside and natural.

    1. I do agree that it would have to be used sparingly and it wasn't my actual entry! But I have a penchant for Minadex green.

    1. I have but not with this one. Annoyingly even though you are allowed multiple entries, I sent one off and then wasn't allowed to return to the competition when I had chosen something else. I had so many brilliant winning ideas you must take my word for it!

  3. I rather like the secret drawer colour, though not for paint. But for a dress...

I have my mum's similar box. I don't think it has a secret drawer, though. Must have a look...

  4. I am not a comper either! Goodness, that would take a lot of time to try and win all that Yorkshire Tea :)
I like your green very much. It's such a lush mossy colour. Best of luck with the contest.

  5. I think it is an interesting piece and I feel there's something very soothing about the shades of green
