One of our Best Beloveds
has a dissertation to complete
on Rudyard Kipling,
so this trip to his home,
Bateman's at Burwash in East Sussex
seemed entirely useful
especially as it was a beautiful day.
He built this pond for his children to swim in,
out of the £7,700 proceeds of the Nobel Prize.
There were newts in it.
This window was in the working mill.
I saw your title for this post, and my immediate thought was..."Oh, please let it be something about Rudyard Kipling and Just So Stories!!"
