Tall Cat is dismayed

All our garden fences have fallen down.
It is Liberty Hall round our way for foxes
and cats.

New fencing arrived today.
Tall Cat hot-footed it round to see what was happening.

I have tried to explain to him
that it is going to be a bit more difficult to pop in.
He will need to jump up.

'How high?' he asked.

'About five feet,' I said.

'You're kidding,' he said.

'Seriously?' he said.

'But what about my adoring public?
I'm the only reason people visit your blog these days.'

I am seriously considering cutting a cat flap in one of the panels.

My husband thinks I am mad.
What do you think?

All is not as it seems

Introducing

Short Cat.

We are at Stage 1-
nervous but frequent inspection.

This could take a while.

Tall Cat is patient

but understandably nonplussed.

Tall Cat takes refuge

from the snow.

It must be at least 3mm deep.

Making oneself at home

Tall Cat tries new window for surprise effect.

Makes haste to sitting room,
eschewing usual bowl of milk
offered by assistant two.

Settles in for photo session.

Offers either profile since both equally good.

Ready for his close up.

Dozes off momentarily.

Refreshed - accompanies assistant one to the computer
to oversee photo selection.

Makes last minute suggestions for captions.
Signs off and disappears
to wherever it is he spends the rest of his days.

Tall Cat pays a festive visit

We were worried because Lost Cat notices appeared
on lamp posts in the neighbourhood
with Tall Cat's picture on them.
His name was Busby!
Impossible to think of him as Busby.

He'd been lost for several weeks they said
and we hadn't seen hide nor hair of him.

I rang the number on the posters
and discovered that this was a relatively new boy on the block
and  despite the uncanny resemblance,
could not be Tall Cat.

And then as if to reassure us,
there he was at the window again,
ready to come in and check out the Christmas tree.

In April of next year he will have been visiting for four years.
It's an odd relationship.
We still don't know his real name, but as Tall Cat
he has fans all over the world.
What would his owners think if they knew?

Welcome back old friend

There's no knowing when he will show up,
but he was just what the doctor ordered today.

I think he has some admirers out there too.

I bought Mog's Christmas Calamity today.
Of all the supermarket Christmas ads
this is my favourite.
Freda pointed me towards this behind the scenes clip
with Mog's creator Judith Kerr.

P.S. I have crayons in pots envy.

Pond safety

This is our pond.

I wish it looked like this.
But it looks like this:

exposed black liner,
and duck weed.

However Tall Cat drew my attention to
something of interest afoot
in the pond this morning.

The frogs are back,
so once again we have left it too late to repair the leaks,
or fill it in altogether.

With a visiting grand-daughter,
who will be crawling before we know it,
filling it in is the safest option.

We'll concentrate our efforts on the bird feeders instead.

Tall Cat pays a (brief) call

Tall Cat turns on the charm.

Tall Cat sneaks upstairs
while I am tussling with my tax return.

This is absolutely forbidden.

I said,

This is absolutely forbidden.

No really.

Tall Cat has left the premises.
