Definitely losing it

Sitting on the bed, right there,
on a bright check blanket,
in all its fluorescent high vis yellow -
the tape measure.

How many times have we searched that virtually empty room?
This morning I put something else on that bed.
It wasn't there then.
Nothing has been taken off the bed that might have covered it.
Nobody here is inclined to play tricks.
There is nobody else here except my husband.
Grand-daughter has not been in there
and in any case could not have reached up onto the bed.

We are seriously weirded out.

  1. It's Thanksgiving over here so here I am saying "thanks" for all of your beautiful words and pictures, Lucille.

  2. I constantly lose things in my place. Bearing in mind that I live alone and am reasonably tidy, it makes no sense at all; then suddenly, the thing will reappear. Quite mystifying.

    1. This reappearance was particularly unnerving. It couldn't have been missed. I literally jumped when I saw it sitting there.

  5. That is weird. I got a phone call when I was out on Tuesday demanding to know where I had put the remote. I had no clue. It was on the dining room table next to the cotton buds.......

  6. Things like that happen to me all the time, it only happens to the most intelligent people, I tell myself. We have so much in our brains, don't you know.

  8. I'd look slightly sideways at people, as you call the ones who don't understand the washing basket.....
