One thing about me

I love a fire.
In this I take after my dad
who was never happier than when poking a bonfire.
He had a fiery furnace of an incinerator
made from galvanised metal with holes in the side
and a conical lid with chimney.

My new fire bowl is
a pretty basic affair -
a bowl, a tripod and a circular grid
for cooking on.
Apparently it works best when you've built up
a bed of ash in the bottom,
so this evening I made a start.

  1. I can almost smell the wood burning. Just been on some of your walks, love the white cliffs and the beach walk. Loved them all.

  2. I share your love of a fire - and look back in horror at certain episodes in our childhood where we would play happily with matches! Nothing untoward ever occurred, but that was just luck.....

  3. I just dumped the water out of mine -- now it's time to fire it up!
