In the kitchen. On the radio.

I rescued the last of the elderflowers just in time for the cordial,

made quartered focaccia

and a batch of yogurt
all under glowering skies with stinging rain,
and then those sudden shafts of brilliant evening sun
which can only penetrate our north-facing kitchen
for a few weeks in summer.

This was playing on the radio.

  1. The kitchen radio uplifting our daily chores to a more sublime level is a wonderful thing!

  3. Beautiful music. You have been so productive that you put me to shame. Our Elderflowers are just coming into bloom and I'm hoping to save them for Elderberry cough syrup, a sovereign remedy for colds and 'flu. The sunlight in your kitchen is so pretty.

  4. Once again, your post lives up to your delightful theme.

'If you want a golden rule that will fit everybody, this is it: have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or beautiful.' ~ William Morris

I appreciate the choral piece you include, and enjoyed singing it in university.

  5. I looked at this, and at your choice of music and thought the post had a kind of "all's right with the world" flavour.... lovely.
