Bare knuckled

Every fourth year,
the council sends along a team to pollard the London Plane trees that line our road.
The first year they did it, I was appalled at the brutal result,
but plane trees recover quickly.

They are well suited to city life.

The bark peels and sheds impurities as it does so,

leaving a dappled appearance,

which is particularly attractive after rain.

  1. Oh my goodness! I have a love of trees...they just move me. I have never seen a plane tree...only the sweet plane tree fairy:)

The beauty of the layers and colors of the bark...*sigh* there's just nothing like it.

    Superb photos, once again, Lucille!!
