La, la, lala la lah

Camber Sands at high tide is a thronged thoroughfare.

People stride up and down the narrow corridor
between the dunes and the spongy saturated sand.

All busy going nowhere,
for no particular reason.

What a pleasure it is.

  1. Wonderful. We like a little promenade up and down the beach as well when we can. All that light and space and the far horizon. Love it. CJ xx

  2. Busy going nowhere, busy doing nothing – my favourite state. Should do more. Have a lovely weekend Lucille.

  3. I was at Camber sands in the summer and it was a very different place! (remember that weekend it went over 30 degrees and stayed there) it was HEAVING. people everywhere, the sea was packed, children in the pools that formed further up the beach. It makes it look quiet in your pictures, but of course for the time of year that is busy for a beach!

  4. Oooh, that spongy sand - too much like our quicksand-y stuff here for my liking!

  5. It's the national obsession with ozone ... and walking along the beach in autumn is usually something you can safely do while concentrating on your iPhone .

  6. It looks as if the sand's trying to eat those people...

  7. I love that first photo especially. (Our beach is never that busy, even on a hot day!) Always fun on a beach though.

  8. One of the best pleasures there is. I love that damp, raw, sea-weedy smell.

  9. I agree with artistfriend. If I found your photo printed on a card in the bookshop, I would buy it and frame it. It makes me feel things...story things and I keep coming back to look at it.
