  1. Is she a 'shuffle-bottom' as my daughter was?

    1. She was a swiveller, now a rapido crawler and stander upper. For this you have to bend double as she totters quite long distances on her little bandy legs.

  2. And the pebbles and the slate shingle in our garden. Eternal vigilance required.

  3. Lucille, it's such a treat to see this little sun bonnet cutie enjoying her very first summer. I think I was into double digit age before I first saw the ocean, stepped on sand, made castles, collected shells, and so on. Even at that advanced age, I absolutely loved it. Learning about tides, climbing over the North Carolina dunes, and so on.

  4. At least she's not a '' firmly sitting on the middle of a beach towel , looking at all that weird threatening beige stuff " beach goer like my youngest . It was months before YD consented to touch sand , let alone walk on it !

  5. Mine's almost three and I caught him eating bark chips at the park the other day.
I'm sure you'll have a summer of new discoveries (for her) and, as you say, eternal vigilance.

  6. My sister specialised in eating old cigarette butts at that age. It didn't seem to affect her health but I don't recommend it.

  7. I have a photo of my second son at a similar age sitting on the sand in France totally absorbed by it. Lovely.
