Goodbye garam masala.
Farewell 5-spice.
Ta-ta za'atar.
Adios allspice.
Bye bye bay leaves
(there's a whole tree outside).
So long so many sesame seeds.
Well what else would you do on a dismal Bank Holiday Monday?
Might as well have a laugh at the same time.
Thanks for that Lucille! I take it you doing a second pass too? (It's addictive.)
ReplyDeleteI was sure I had made a thorough job of it the first time but I must have been very lenient. Anyhow my Kondoing is in need of kick starting so I thought I'd start there.
DeleteI live for the day when the best before data comes around on such items, as they immediately cease to bring me joy.
ReplyDeleteIt does speed up the process when you see 2012 on the label.
DeleteLucille, your freshly emptied shelves are quite impressive. Mr McIntyre did make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteAnd now, I think I will have a look at the back of my spice shelf, too. It is the front row that seems to get all the action...basil, oregano, rosemary, tarragon, thyme, cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and ... zahtar. I just threw out the aged, lingering bay leaf jar.
Of course, during the summer months, I do buy some of the above fresh from the farmers market, and get spoiled with the true flavors they give.
xo
Yes I kept some oregano because I liked the tin from Conran's now defunct Bluebird in the King's Road, but honestly it smelt sour and nothing like the genuine article.
Delete2012? Positively recent!
ReplyDeleteWell yes but bear in mind that this is my second attempt at feeling the joy.
DeleteI did mine last year - I daren't own up to what I found in there...
ReplyDeleteFess up T!
DeleteLemongrass lurking here .... It doesn't do a lot for Cottage Pie .
ReplyDeleteMy local supermarket is running a campaign to do something with a twist and suggests adding instant coffee to Bolognese sauce. Bleagh!
DeleteOh thanks so much for the clip... I laughed so much....
