Drip, drip, drip

The builders have left for the weekend.

Rain, rain,rain
Drip, drip, drip.
Leak, leak, leak.
Yellow stain,
Stain, stain.
Buckets, bowls and crates
Splish, splish, splish
again.

Tarpaulin?
What tarpaulin?

The word tarpaulin originated as a compound of the words tar and palling
referring to a tarred canvas pall used to cover objects on ships.
By association, according to one theory,
sailors became known astarpaulins and eventually tars.

  1. What is it with builders and tarpaulins? You would think a little bit of wet weather would be a hint to cover up the holes but maybe it is a thought too far. We have been flooded by the rain when the builders forgot the tarpaulin. I do hope you are not soaked.

  2. Very nice catching up with your blog today. You always provide some food for thought and some little delight to enjoy - like the toadstools. I remember hunting for ladyslippers and chanterelle mushrooms in the woods of Vancouver Island when I lived there.
So the white flowers were Japanese cosmos. So pretty and sweet.

  3. Love the explanation of tarpaulin - nothing worse than a drip, a leak - having to use a tarpaulin!
