Floorentina

What shall we have for lunch?

Let's have pizza.
We could add some wilted spinach and an egg to a bought Margherita
and turn it into a nutritious Fiorentina.

Mmm. That's a brilliant idea.

And then if we're lucky the egg will fall
through the middle of the pizza.

Yes, and while you scrape it off the floor of the oven
I will helpfully move the pizza closer to you

and flip it deftly onto the lino.

Pizza Floorentina.

Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil
and enjoy.

  1. What baffles me is how the egg fell through the middle of the pizza.

    1. Yes, well, it is an advanced cookery skill, akin to making rum babas and soufflés. All I can say is that it doesn't always work.

  5. Is it wrong of me to be sat here with tears of laughter in my eyes?

No, it's alright Lucille, best NOT to answer...........

  6. You made me laugh too much, which isn't good with bronchitis. But oh! there must be a kitchen-floor-hurling gremlin about, because last week I managed to drop an apple and blackberry crumble on the floor while attempting to remove it from the oven. I wasn't able to put my usual rule into action (the five second one: if it's on the floor for less than 5 seconds you can still eat it) because it had collapsed all over the place. I have never done that before: as you say of the egg dive it's certainly an advanced cookery skill. I wouldn't be able to predict how often, and exactly when, I shall be able to repeat it.

  7. And where is the picture of you rearranging it on a plate and passing off to some unsuspecting family member?

  10. Loved this! I was just posting about the "details we usually omit" when blogging and yet this is proof that they are indeed the stuff of great posts!
Have a super day! xx PS I would probably have observed the ten second rule and grabbed it off the floor ... it looked sooo yummy!

  13. That lino looks clean enough...
It reminds me of the time I learned that parchment paper is very slippery stuff and lost all my cookies to the bottom of the oven.

  14. Hilarious, sorry.

Now if you'd had a labrador, you wouldn't have had a millisecond in which to even think about taking that last photograph......
