Not sending the clocks back

This is a George Nelson ball clock.
I am the proud owner of three of them.
I didn't actually buy three,
(even though they were a bargain price,
not now available quite so cheaply at Milan Direct),
but they sent me the wrong one and when I pointed this out
they said, with an airy wave of their hands
that I could keep it and they would send the right colourway.
So they sent the wrong one again,
and when I pointed that out, they very kindly said,
please donate it to charity if you don't want to keep it,
and they would definitely send the right colourway next time.
Which they did.

I toyed with the idea of lining them up office style
so that I could be synchronised with readers around the world,
but then I had a better idea
and wondered if readers around the world
would like one on their own wall instead.

Now the last time I attempted a giveaway,
I only had one taker,
so you are in with a very good chance.
All I'd like to know is
which is your favourite time of day?
Lark or owl?

  1. I'm definitely an owl, but I long to be a lark. I missed my chance for an early-morning walk today and it was definitely the best bit of a day that has become increasingly cloudy, windy and cold.

  2. What a fun clock (and nice company)! I am an owl. though I think it's healthier to be a lark--but every time I try it doesn't last long and I revert to my nocturnal ways. No need to enter me in your giveaway--UK to US postage would be costly.

  3. Well that's a tricky one. Sometimes I love to be up and about in the quiet calm before everyone else starts shaking their stuff and sometimes I like to party long into the night. Just depends on my mood really.

  4. I'm a lark, definitely. Do you really think I'm in with a chance? I need a clock for the bathroom.

  5. Ooh, lark without a doubt! Although I'm not sure whether it's the minimoles or me. Either way, seeing the first rays of sunshine creeping through the dusty window, walking over the wet grass to let the chickens out, giggles and the pitter patter of tiny feet across the floor. I couldn't think of a better way to start the day.

  6. Lark, but I don't think you want to send it to me, way over here on the other side of the world . . .

  7. Oh definitely a lark. As Anne of Green Gables said, "The day is fresh, with no mistakes in it yet", and I get to drink a large cup of deep rich coffee!
Love the clock(s). It reminds me of Miro, and Swatches and the bright colours I liked to wear in my younger youth.

  8. Gorgeous giveaway :D Difficult question! My sleeping habits suggest I'm an owl, and I do love dusk in winter, as the light fades and the blackbirds call. But I think my absolute favourite time of day is sunrise in winter, when there's a mist rising off the fields and perhaps a frost. Can't be beaten.

  9. Good photo of a lovely clock, I see you had to resort to the bathroom again to get the light. I am by nature a lark but my husband is an owl and I have spent many years staying up too late and being too tired when my body still wakes me early. I was definitely sleep deprived on Monday when it took until lunchtime to realise why I had woken at 5.30am. (The penny finally dropped that my body still thought it was 6.30, oops). Thanks for the generous giveaway offer.

  10. What a generous giveaway! I would love to be a lark, but alas I am an owl!

  11. Owl...unless a very, very grumpy lark counts?

  12. This is a wonderful giveaway, Lucille - how generous. And how nice of them to allow you to keep three clocks!
I was an owl even as a child and though I could happily stay up until dawn - and often do - getting up at dawn would defeat me. If I'm interested in a book, I kind of forget to go to bed.

  14. How generous of you, and of the company. I'm a lark who married an owl (so sometimes I'm a very tired lark as I try to keep up with him!) I'm amused that one of our little daughters looks to be a lark and the other an owl so we'll each have company as they get older.

  15. I'm an owl forced to be a lark! My daughter's school begins awfully early. Every now and then I revert to my owlish ways, but pay for it the rest of the week. ( It's a fabulous clock, but I, too, live in the US so no need to enter me in your giveaway. I really just wanted to say how much I look forward to reading your blog. )

  16. I'm neither, or both as I burn the candle at both ends. Lovely clock, but don't enter me as I have recently won a giveaway elsewhere.
