The Queen visits the Republic of Ireland

I hope someone offers her a glass of draught Guinness
and a verse or two of Danny Boy.
The lyrics (not immediately discernible in this rendition)
were written by Englishman Frederic Weatherly,
and it was sung he said,
'all over the world by Sinn Feiners and Ulsterman alike'
and had 'nothing of the rebel song about it,
and no note of bloodshed.'

  2. Had to laugh when Telegraph reported that she'd been there five minutes and nobody had given her a cup of tea! I'm sure she'd sooner sit down with soda bread or a bit of brack than have all that traipsing around!

  3. I love the Muppets - musical talent on a par with mine.

  4. Agree...I had a glass of draught Guinness on my visit to
Dublin...how could I not? Loved the Danny Boy rendition!

  5. Such fun that rendition. Last time I drank Guinness was in Sean Kelly Square in Carrick-on-Suir in Co. Tipperary.

  6. I didn't know Beaker was an Irish tenor :) Loved this!
Guinness is a treat, but isn't sherry more the Queen's drink?

  7. I'm amused by everyone arguing about the colour she was wearing when she arrived. "Green," they said confidently on the Today Show. "No it wasn't," someone else said later. "Teal," offered someone else. "Nah, that isn't teal, for pity's sake, begorrah," said an Irish journalist. Etc. Much more fun than I expected.
