Two observations during a short walk

On the way there -
three people ahead of me,
a girl flanked by two men.
The girl, by far the tallest of the three,
suddenly bounced up,
tugged a branch
and showered cherry blossom on us all.

On the way back -
as I made my way down the stairs
into the railway underpass,
an elderly, impeccably outfitted gentleman
waited at the bottom.
As I arrived, he beamed approvingly at me
and said as if to a very small child,*
'Well done! Good feet eh?'

And now,
the flowers.

* or, as it just now occurs to me,
to an old lady. Hmm.

  1. The best post ever!!! To be rained on by cherry blossoms ...

  2. More a sprightly, vivacious walker.

  3. Perhaps the old man would have liked to say , "A nicely turned ankle " , but didn't wish to offend you ?

  4. I know how you feel! I was at a party and a very nice lady told me that I looked too young to have a 20-year-old son, and as I basked in the glow, my sister and brother-in-law made helpful comments on her advanced years, the plentiful amounts of alcohol being consumed, and the way that she seemed to be 'working the room'. I prefer to look on the bright side.
